Review: Interfit Strobies Portrait Kit

Interfit has this to say about their new Strobies product:

“The Portrait kit is the ideal answer for the mobile photographer using these lightweight and portable Strobies lighting accessories . Being simple to put together by using a Flex Mount on your flashgun. You can easily swap between the Beauty Dish or the Globe Diffuser in seconds. Each item in the Portrait kit uses a Flex Mount which "requires no glue, Velcro or rubber bands" to make a secure fit on your flashgun.

The Portrait kit has been designed to enhance your creativity both indoors or outdoors by using your flashguns to give you every opportunity to create stunning images. When using the Beauty dish or Softbox in front of your model this softens the lighting for the most pleasing effects. The Globe Diffuser is ideal for large group shots for Wedding or Mobile Portrait photographers for bouncing light in almost all directions to produce a beautiful soft light. The Barn Doors, Snoot and Honeycomb can be used as a background light or to add a fill light into your portraits. To add some extra drama to your images consider purchasing the EFX kit for the total package in a mobile studio.”

Review:

With wireless speedlights becoming all the rage in photography these days, several companies have started making a wide range of useful accessories for speedlight shooting. One of the drawbacks to wireless speedlight shooting compared to studio lights has always been the lack of modifiers for small lights. Interfit just introduced their new Strobies product line to help solve this problem. They come in two different kits, the Portrait and the EFX. I recently had the chance to use the Portrait kit, and was immediately impressed with the quality and flexibility of the system. Upon opening the box, you will find a softbox, barn doors, beauty dish, globe diffuser, honeycomb grid, and a snoot with two grids. All of these attach to your flash with an additional speedring called a “Flex Mount”. The Flex Mount simply slides over the head of the flash to allow attachment of the modifiers. These mounts are inexpensive and come in different sizes for different flashes, which makes it easy to mix and match flashes within your system and more. With the extreme portability of speedlights along with the light control offered by the Strobies kits, it's easy for anyone to have the world as their studio.
